New Engines for Saabs ?

BMW 1.6L EngineAre these to be the new Saab Engines ?

Trolling around for information concerning the search for new engines for the next production of Saab cars.  I came across several article references and statements. It made me wonder.
I have summarised the current situation below.
NEVS has confirmed that they have chosen an engine for the future versions of the Saab 9-3 .
NEVS spokesman Mattias Bergman will not name the supplier at this time.
Out of the 500 suppliers needed to produce the 9-3 almost all are now on-board  NEVS has still yet to reach an agreement with a few of them.

Back in 2009 BMW delivered around 50 engines to SAAB Automobile AB in Trollhättan for development and testing. In 2010 a deal was signed between Saab Automobile AB and BMW for a 1,6 litre engine to be used in the Saab 9-3 Phoenix.
After the bankruptcy BMW tried to get their engines back as they had never received payment for them.
The only remaining part of Saab Automobile AB, after the bankruptcy, was SAAB Automobile Parts AB, generally known as SAAB Parts. SAAB Parts was a stand-alone company based in Nyköping . BMW decided to file a law-suit against Saab Parts hoping that they could get their engines back, or at least payment for them.
This law-suit for a total of 2,6 million Euro.was filed on the 22nd of August 2012. SAAB Parts decided to fight the law-suit since the engines that were delivered to SAAB Automobile AB, a now defunct company.
A hearing of the district court in Sweden was due in April 2013 and SAAB Parts legal team were ready to contest the claim. Interestingly two days before the date set for the hearing, and strangely within hours of NEVS announcing that they had an agreement on engines, the case was postponed by BMW without any request for a new date !
No reason was given by BMW either to the SAAB Parts lawyers nor to the court.

There are no formal announcements. However it seems a little more than coincidental ! Or, do BMW realise that they may be flogging a dead horse ? Feel free to draw your own conclusions, they may well be wrong…But….We await more news.
